Saw Mill River Road Reconstruction
This was a public works contract for the Saw Mill River Road Improvement Project, spanning approximately 1.25 miles, from Ashburton Avenue to Richmond Place. The project was approved by the BOCS on July 30, 2008, for approximately $5.4 million. Work included replacement and rehabilitation of the existing drainage system, water valves from 16 to 30 inches in diameter, curbs, sidewalks, and fire hydrants. New traffic signals were installed, and the existing section of roadway was milled and resurfaced. An additional $214,000 was approved due to scope additions that were necessary to safely complete the water main valve replacement work.

On Ferris Avenue between Hamilton Avenue and Hillside Terrace, a 30-inch ductile iron water transmission main was installed along with butterfly valves and fire hydrants. In addition, a restoration was performed on the roadways affected by the excavation. This was a deep trench excavation in order to avoid existing utilities. The installation of support systems for all existing utilities was also required.
